[Pokemon Go] How to get Exclusive Raid Invitations for Mewtwo Boss battles

September 7, 2017

has started rolling out new Exclusive Raids in the game - which are referred to by developer Niantic as EX Raids - and puts fans around the world one step closer to battling and capturing

The new Raids are scheduled to start popping up all over the globe on September 7th, but some players are reporting that there are already a few of the new events in the game already.

These EX Raids will last roughly 2 hours, and will feature more powerful Pokemon than regular Raids.

The first reported EX Raid invites were only for a Pokestop called “Water, Precious Water” in Bellevue, Washington, but since a few more have been reported in California and Japan.

As promised by Niantic previously it appears the start of Beta testing for the new feature is underway, how far reaching this Beta testing will be, however, is completely unknown.

Talking about EX Raids, Niantic has said previously:

"Exclusive raids will periodically appear at Gyms around the world; however, unlike existing raids, Trainers will be invited to join an Exclusive Raid Battle."

But receiving an invite to a Raid is going to require some commitment to the game.

Niantic explains:"To receive an invitation to participate in an Exclusive Raid Battle, Trainers must have successfully completed a raid recently, by defeating the Raid Boss, at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be taking place.

This means that you'll have to keep an eye on nearby Gyms when you play the game - a warning will be given out ahead of time if an EX Raid is going live.

Niantic continues:

"The invitations will include an advance warning of when the Exclusive Raid will take place, giving them ample time to coordinate with other Trainers before taking on the powerful Raid Stay tuned for more information."

These new EX Raids come after a big new update came to Pokemon GO.

First and foremost, the update was forced, meaning all Pokemon GO players need to download it before they can continue playing the game itself.

The update will add a new Safari Zone Europe Event Badge as well as a large amount of bug fixing, cache improvements, and raid fixes.
