Pokemon Go NEWS: Mewtwo Ex Raid invites go GLOBAL, as Niantic extends Equinox event
POKEMON Go is back online, as Niantic attempts to make amends with Ex Raid invites and extra Equinox game time.
Pokemon Go developer Niantic has extended the Equinox event and sent out a new wave of Mewtwo Ex Raid Battle invites.
Fans were unable to login to the Pokemon Go app for large parts of yesterday, as Niantic worked on a solution to server problems.
Some fans speculated that Niantic was adding Gen 3 Pokemon to the game (see the gallery below), although sadly this wasn't the case.
As a result of the outage, Niantic has decided to extend the Equinox event, which will now run until 9pm UK time on October 3.
"Early this morning, we discovered an issue which prevented several players from logging into the game," Niantic explains.
"After working with our partners, we were able to resolve the issue and can now confirm that login functionality has fully stabilised.
"As a result of this outage, the equinox celebration will be extended by 24-hours and will now end at 1pm PDT on October 3.
"We greatly appreciate your patience and hope to see you out and about earning Stardust and hatching eggs."
The Pokemon Go Ex Raid beta has also been extended, as Niantic sends invites to players from across the world.
Trainers from the UK, Spain, Brazil, Sweden, Netherlands, France, Poland, South Africa and India have been sent Ex Raid Battle invites.
The UK Raids will take place in the likes of Guildford, Taunton and Lichfield.
Interestingly, the latest batch of Ex Raids won't just take place in sponsored locations like Starbucks.
Players without Ex Raid invites will have to settle for the Equinox event, which is Niantic's way of celebrating autumn.
“With cool autumn nights quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and sunny spring days arriving in the Southern Hemisphere, we thought it would be the perfect time to celebrate the coming equinox with an in-game event. New seasons mean new adventures!” reads a blog post.
The Pokemon Go Equinox event also gives players the chance to earn double stardust and triple XP.
The only downside is that triple XP is only available when discovering new Pokemon, which won't be much use to high level players.
